Nandi Hills – Beyond The Sunset

Nandi Hills – Beyond The Sunset

Today I am taking you to Nandi Hills – a beautiful small hill station around 60 km from the city of Bangalore. Before I begin, I want you answer a simple question in your head – Do you think the landscape looks even more stunning right after the sun has set? I know we all get crazy about the orange ball that slips down slowly behind the horizon. But the blues and pinks that the sun leaves behind is divinely gorgeous too.

Nandi Hills after the sunset …

Nandi Hills is particularly loved for its sunsets and sunrises. We, too, headed there to catch a sunset view. We started around three in the afternoon and reached Nandi Hills around six, just at the hour of sunset. We had got a little late for that ‘orange ball’. I mean the moment we arrived and headed towards the sunset point, the sun was quickly wrapping up for the day. So, should I have been disappointed? Well, of course, for a moment I did feel that we should have been there a little earlier. But the hues and shades that appeared after the sunset had another level of beauty. The emotions of enchantment did not rest so soon. We lingered there for a while.

3 Reasons You Should NOT Miss Nandi Hills –

. It’s a romantic place.
. The winding road leading to the hills is well-maintained and nice. Driving is a joy!
. There are quite a few scenic sights on the way – vineyards and other plantations.

So, it’s a wise idea to keep plenty of time aside for getting off your car several times for photographs.

Quite a few excuses to get down on the way

Beware of Monkeys!

I have to admit, I was a bundle of nerves because of the gang of Monkeys at Nandi Hills. A word of caution – please do not carry any eatable or handbag. Leave all your belongings in your car or bus. Wear your camera around your neck and be careful.

Linger longer for sunrise

People usually take a day expedition to Nandi Hills, because it’s easily commutable from Bangalore. But if you would like to have a better sense of the place, you can opt for an overnight stay. There are some nice hotels and resorts in and around Nandi Hills.

All I mean to say is that after the magnificent sunset, it’s a better deal to witness the sunrise as well. Don’t you agree?

A nuisance – posing happily though!

Nandi Hills is one place where I’d love to return and it will happen soon, because I will be visiting Bangalore at least once in a while.

Sunrise, be there! You are awaited.
