5 ‘Free’ Things In Rajasthan
To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about writing this post. The term “free” draws a lot of attention, so I wanted to be careful. But I was also very keen on sharing some of the things that you should know about Rajasthan. Although it is the hot favorite of tourists from all over the world, it is still possible that many might not know certain ‘extra’ nice things about it.
Free WiFi
Who wouldn’t want that? Free internet access within the comfort of your hotel room is an exclusive happiness. This is one thing I absolutely love about the hotels in Rajasthan.
It’s fun to share latest pictures and updates with friends and family back home!
Free pick-up from the airport/railway station
It is such a nice thing to be received at the airport/railway station and escorted to your hotel without a penny charged! I took my first solo trip to Udaipur, where I was given free pick-up by Hotel Baba Palace. The experience turned out to be so much cushier, because I didn’t have to worry about navigating my hotel’s address.
Free accommodation booking
Whenever you decide to holiday in Rajasthan, simply search for a good hotel online (tripadvisor, makemytrip or simply google) and call up the hotel admin. Discuss about your room requirement and tariff. If the deal suits you, simply tell them to book a room for you without a charge. They will reserve a room for you free of cost.
If you change your plan, do call up or drop an email to inform about the same.
Free hospitality
Rajasthan is the second name of hospitality. They go out of their way to help you, treat you well and even protect you. I remember when I was in Udaipur, my hotel staff made sure that I was safe and comfortable in my room. On another instance, when I was in Jaisalmer, my hotel manager kept some fruits in the cab while I was about to leave for the desert safari.
Of course, their motive behind the warmth and care is business, which is fine. As a tourist, you have to be cautious that you are not cheated. You need to be really good with your research to be able to extract the right deal.
Free advice
A waiter’s advice gave me an opportunity to stay here |
Well, advice is something that everybody likes to give free of cost, but it is valuable only if it’s for your benefit. A valuable advice can make a huge difference to your trip!
In my case, there were two instances where my trip turned out to be even better than what I had expected. The first was in Udaipur when a cabby took me around to see the city and beyond. He almost directed my itinerary! It was for him that I visited excellent places like Monsoon Palace, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Nagda (a village 24 km from Udaipur).
The second was in Jodhpur when I was planning to go to Jaisalmer. One of the waiters at HotelHaveli (Jodhpur) advised me to stay at Hotel Deep Mahal (Jaisalmer), which is inside the Jaisalmer Fort. And it was such a lovely experience!

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Rajasthan welcomes you with open arms! Visit it with an open mind and make some great memories!
